I remember taking trips with my family when I was younger. All I remember is packing everything in the car, getting in, and going to our destination! I remember the anxiousness of getting there, but never the actual planning of the trip. I wish I could go back to those days!
What about you? Do you remember planning travel arrangements, hotel reservations, packing your bags? Or do you just remember being excited, and loving every minute?
Now that I’m an adult, and have a family of my own, trips look much different. I still get excited about them, but I’m also a lot more realistic about what goes into planning! As we prepare to return to Papua New Guinea, there is a lot that needs to be done, such as doctors appointments, packing, getting visas and work permits, buying plane tickets, etc. etc.
We are so excited about returning to Papua New Guinea! This past week I have been thinking a lot about all these things that need to happen before we leave to go back to Papua New Guinea. For Wycliffe to approve us to return, we have to be at 100% of our required minimum financial partnerships, we have about 30% more to go!
We have a lot of planning for this trip, and just think…its not just for a few weeks, its for a few years! That means while packing, I’ve got to think about things like clothes for all of us for three years! It can become very overwhelming when I think of all that we need to do. We have just over 3.5 months before we want to go, which isn’t long! I wonder how I will ever fit everything in, find everything we need, see everyone we want to see?!
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:34
Thankfully, I am not in control, if I was, my life would be in shambles! The Lord is in control, and HE will work everything out. I just need to take everything one day at a time, and not worry about what might come in the following days. Be still my anxious heart!
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
Psalm 46:10
